Sand Rover

Thanks to a member of the Vintage-RC forum, this model now joins my collection. The re-releases had no real effect on the original Holiday Buggy and Sand Rover that remain rare due to the heavy modifications on modernized versions. So this model was a very nice opportunity I couldn't miss to complete my collection.

The Sand Rover family

The story of this model starts back at summer 1981, 8 months after the release of its twin Holiday Buggy with whom it shares the same chassis. At the time in Tamiya's offering, these two models were considered as the economical versions of the SRBs (Rough Rider and Sand Scorcher), even though they don't share parts.

Both in photos and videos, the Holiday Buggy and Sand Rover unveil their economical chassis limits but above all, the beauty and realism of their bodyshells. From what it seems, they share their preferred game park with the SRB series buggies: the beach.
